Is God sick?

Screenshot_2015-10-19-12-26-47-1The other day I was having a chat with a coursemate and we were talking about the issue of forgive and forget. Then he said as far as he is concerned he just can never forget a wrong someone does to him even after he might have claimed to forgive such fellow. He in fact he said no one can forget except they want to lie. And then he crossed his border without permission and said even God never forgets, that as much as we asks for forgiveness and think we have been forgiven, God would never forget. I asked him why and he said if we humans find it hard to forget, how much more the creator of the universe. And then he asked “is God sick? Or does he have amnesia?” I did stand up for God and this is what I had to say….
When we were much younger we learnt ABC, as much as we can’t remember our teacher’s face in kindergarten, we find it hard to forget our ABC. Its stuck in our heads, our brains have the capacity to store whatever we learn. Someone might have wronged you ten or twenty years ago and you might have forgiven and even forgotten but your beautiful brain might bring it up suddenly or you might be involved in anything that brings the memory back. So I quite agreed with this course mate of mine about people not forgetting after having forgiven someone. But left to me, the choice you make when this memory comes back is what proves whether you indeed forgave the person in the first place.
In response to his question, is God sick? No, not at all. Impossible! God can’t be sick, our healer can’t be sick. And yes He does forgive and forget. There’s this story I heard of a young Christian who wondered how his bishop could live a life without sin, and so he went to God in prayers and asked what the last sin of his bishop was. God’s response took him aback. “I can’t remember son” shocked, he asked why and God told him, “the moment your bishop did anything wrong he immediately asked for forgiveness and I didn’t hold it back from him”. The young man left his prayer room that day with a new understanding of forgiveness.
So friends, God forgives and forgets. He doesn’t or wouldn’t remind you of your list of sins like you think. Check out what he says in Jeremiah 31:34. For I will forgive their iniquity and I will remember their sins no more. Numbers 23:19 also says “God is not a man that He should lie”. If he has said He would remember your sins no more, he won’t.
Today there are a whole lot of people out there living in the past, living in unforgiveness, living in sin all because they feel God can’t forgive their sins not to talk of forgetting. Paul was a chronic sinner, he did the things he didn’t want to do. But he applied grace, he was the greatest of the apostles. Don’t let the devil deceive you, the moment you ask for forgiveness God forgives, forgetting is an added bonus. You don’t ask Him to forget, that one He does automatically. He hates sin, you don’t expect Him to keep the thoughts of your sin.
God remembers a whole lot of things, like He remembered the children of Israel in the land of captivity. The Bible also says He doesn’t forget our labour of love. Etc. And don’t you ever think your sin is too big, sin is sin. He is not after the contents of your sin, just ask for mercy like the thief on the cross. Christ never condemned him or asked what he did, he forgave him, forgot his sin but remembered him in paradise. Your case can’t be different. He’s the same yesterday, today and for ever. Remember He said come boldly to the throne of grace. A lot of people need to know Christ died for their sins thousands of years ago. They are already forgiven. Spread the word!

When a man loves a woman

Screenshot_2015-09-30-23-35-02-1 The R&B classic “when a man loves a woman” when released in 1966 by Percy Sledge was a no 1 hit on both the billboard hot 100 and R&B singles in 1966. Later in 1991, Michael Bolton after 6 albums produced a 7th album “Time, love and tenderness” and produced same song on this album. It also reached no 1 on the Billboard hot 100 chart. Also, 19 year old Joshua Ledet from Westlake, Louisiana also performed the classic at the American Idol top 12 season 11 on March 14, 2012. He delivered a powerhouse performance earning him the highest praise and as well as a standing ovation from the judges and audience alike. Judges were left searching for enough superlatives for his performance. Jennifer Lopez called the performance, “The best thing I’ve ever seen on American Idol”. Steven Tyler said “You gave it up big. That was the most beautiful performance I’ve ever seen”.
Now all that for a song and performance, how about the actions that follow when a man loves a woman? Signs and symptoms include:
*He picks his phone at intervals and calls to check on her.
*He showers her with gifts without season or celebration.
*He’s not ashamed to show her off to his friends and tells everyone about her.
*She’s the center of his thoughts. He sends her messages such as “You are my first thought in the morning and the last thought before I go to bed”.
*He doesn’t mind going the extra mile for her. Literally he would climb the highest mountain, swim the deepest ocean and even walk the farthest distance just to please her.
*He doesn’t mind sacrificing his sleep, time, money and even resources just to see that she’s happy and comfortable.
*They have the longest phone conversations even disrupting other activities.
*She has his “mumu” button and so he succumbs to every of her heart desires.
*He tells her the sweetest words that make her go all red.
*He’s got a glow on his face. He just can’t hide it.
*And finally, he wants to spend the rest of his life with her.
All these and many more happens when a man loves a woman. Does all these happen “When a man loves the Lord”? How many of us have claimed to love God? How many of us are good at singing those beautiful songs to God that show and express our love for Him? We sing of how much we love Him, we even say and boast of how much we love Him. But love is much more than music or words. When a man loves a woman he doesn’t just sing it to her hearing all the time, he tries every means humanly possible to prove it to her.
You claim to love God right?
*How many times have you showered the needy and less privileged with gifts?
*How many times have you stood up boldy to proclaim Christ? Are you ashamed of Christ before your friends? Do you mind telling the whole world of how you love Him?
*How often do you think about Christ and meditate on His word? Or does the thought of Christ expire the moment you are out of church?
*How many times have you rejected that offer to go on that mission trip? Would you go the farthest distance in taking the gospel to lost souls?
*How much would you sacrifice of your money, time, resources and even sleep in proving that you love God?
*Even when He said call unto me and I would answer, how many times do you call unto Him? And when you eventually do, are you in a hurry to leave His presence!
*Does Christ have your “mumu” button? Would you dance naked like David for Christ?
*Just so you know, Christ is the record holder for the most names. How often do you call Him those beautiful and sweet names?
*Is His glory radiating in your life? Do people see your good works and give glory to your father in Heaven?
*As much as you want to spend the rest of your life with that woman, its going to end here on earth. But are you aware a relationship with Christ supersedes here on earth? It continues in eternity.
The Bible says to examine yourself. Do examine yourself, is your love based on ministrations or words, or are your actions involved? I saw a post by Pastor John Hagge and it read, “LOVE IS NOT EMOTION. Jesus Christ didn’t say “when I was hungry you felt sorry for me. When I was naked, you felt shame for me. When I was in prison, you were embarrassed for me. When I was sick, you were sympathetic for me. Love is what you do, not what you feel.” Christ was saying its not until I come down you are to show me love, there are a million and one people out there that need this love.
Trust me, there’s no where in the world that you show a woman so much love and care that she doesn’t try to reciprocate it. How much more the creator of the universe. Loving a woman is not a bad thing in itself, God didn’t create Eve for Adam not to love her. But despite the fact that there was Eve, Adam still had time to fellowship with God. The love you have for a woman shouldn’t infringe on the love you have for God. When a man loves a woman he does the craziest things for her. How crazy would you go for God?
Remain ever blessed.

*Mumu button- When someone you love has control over you.
